Happy 100th Birthday to our own Mabel Elizabeth Abbott!

We recently celebrated Mabel Elizabeth Abbott’s 100th birthday. Known as “Bette”, Mabel was born on October 6th, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio and attended high school in Collingswood, NJ. She and her husband, George, married in 1948. For 30 years, Abbott worked as a news reporter and feature writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Bulletin. She is a proud mother of three children and has seven grandchildren and nine-great grandchildren. Abbott’s long-life was also recognized in a proclamation by Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse. All had a wonderful time celebrating with Mabel on her big day.
