Meet Denise Bourbeau
Denise has been at Mont Marie for 20 years and proudly holds the title of Cook Supervisor. She began her career in the food service industry as a hostess right out high school, where she then became a waitress and enjoyed doing banquets. In 1979, she became a cook. She enjoys the interaction with the residents and feels she has learned so much from her co-workers especially those who have attended school beyond high school. Denise says back in 70’s, college degrees were not the norm. She goes on to say that a challenge to her job would be the evolution of healthcare and long term care in general, it was much different in the “old days.” She takes pride in cooking and everything she serves, and says “If I’m not gonna eat it, I am not gonna serve it!”
Denise has a 39-year-old son and speaks fondly of her 18-year-old grandson Tyler, who she has raised since age 2. She is proud to say that he is graduating high school in a couple of months, himself! When not cooking, Denise can be found reading. She also loves the beach and laughingly says, “going out to eat!” Thank you, Denise, for all you do at Mont Marie!
